Implementation of Directive 2009/128/EC on the sustainable use of pesticides
On 8 November the ENVI committee will first hear the presentation of a study
commissioned by DG EPRS and then consider a draft report on the current
implementation of Directive 2009/128/EC on the sustainable use of pesticides (in
force since 25 November 2009). The study assessed the implementation against
standard evaluation criteria, namely relevance, coherence, effectiveness,
efficiency and EU added value.

Both the study and the draft report point out that the overall degree of progress in the implementation by Member States is insufficient to meet the Directive's main objectives and to unlock its full potential to reduce the overall risks derived from pesticide use, and put forward a series of concrete recommendations for action addressed to the Member States and the Commission.
