bids follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in UN
Development Business No. 563 of 31 July 2001. The National Directorate of Water
has received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA)
toward the cost of the First National Water Development Project, and intends to
apply part of the credit proceeds to payments under the contract for Corumana
Dam Phase 1 completion works. The implementing agency ARA-Sul now invites sealed
bids from eligible bidders for carrying out the completion works as described in
the scope of works. The construction period is 334 days. Bidding will be
conducted through the international competitive bidding procedures specified in
the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits,
January 1995 (revised January and August 1996 and September 1997), and is open
to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the guidelines.
Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information at the ARA-Sul at the
address below from 0800 to 1500 hours, Monday through Friday. A complete set of
bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders at the
address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee or US$ 350. The method of
payment will be cash or certified check. The document will be sent by
express-mail at the request of the bidder upon an extra payment of US$ 150. A
pre-bid meeting will be carried out at the place, date and time indicated in the
instructions to bidders in the tender documents, and the attendance is
compulsory for the bidders wishing to submit a bid. Bids must be delivered to
the address below by 1000 hours on 13 September 2002. All bids must be
accompanied by a bid security of at least 2 per cent of the bid price or an
equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency. Bids will be opened in the
presence of bidders’ representatives who choose to attend at the address below
at 1030 hours on 13 September 2002. Late bids will be rejected. Contact:
