HOW TO PROMOTE ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN THE INDUSTRIAL SECTOR - roundtable of Danish Embassy in Prague
On the 10th of February the Danish Embassy in cooperation with the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Environment organised a roundtable discussion on energy efficiency in the industrial sector.
The roundtable brought together invited representatives from the central administration, regions, municipalities, and industry in the Czech Republic and Denmark in order to discuss and exchange views on concrete challenges and opportunities in the area of energy efficiency.
A number of initiatives regarding energy efficiency have already been launched in the Czech Republic. However, there is still a big potential for further initiatives.
The Danish central administration, regions, municipalities, and industry have since the international oil crises in the 1970s gained significant experience on the promotion and implementation of initiatives related to energy efficiency that may be of inspiration for further initiatives in the Czech Republic. The Danish initiatives include e.g. taxes, subsidies, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), governmental campaigns, energy consultants, industrial symbiosis regarding reuse of waste etc.
It is expected that the roundtable discussion will contribute to the ongoing debate on energy efficiency - both at the political level, the central and local administration as well as in the industries in the Czech Republic.
