2nd International Congress
in Klagenfurt on Lake Wörthersee (A) from 1 to 2 October 2009
Topic Fine Dust: What experts from Europe and the USA have to say.
Environmental, traffic and transport experts, representatives from politics, science and economy receive latest information on the new EU Air Quality Directive, the health impacts of fine dust in Europe and the USA as well as on the costs and causes of fine-dust pollution.
Douglas Dockery from the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston – one of the most renowned fine-dust experts in the USA and author of numerous publications – reports on the latest findings based on long-term studies in the USA.
Another focus is the presentation of case reports on fine-dust reduction from Germany, Austria, Sweden, Italy and Switzerland. Innovative measures, such as the use of CMA (“fine-dust glue”), and an exhibition of dust-free products and services complement the programme.
There is still some exhibition space available: Contact m.staudegger@life-spas.at.
Results of the EU Life Project SPAS, which provides the framework for the Congress, are presented as well. The objective of SPAS is to clearly reduce ambient pollution resulting from PM10 fine dust via a unique combination of noise-protection walls and fine-dust filters. A field trip to Europe’s first noise-protection wall equipped with fine-dust filters provides the opportunity of transferring know-how.
The Conference is held on the premises of Klagenfurt’s elegant Concert House.
