The Government of the Azerbaijan Republic has received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA) toward the cost of the Urgent Environmental Investment Project, and intends to apply part of the funds to cover eligible payments under the contract for landfill construction and improvement of the access roads. Bidding is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits. The Project Implementation Unit (PIU) at the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the construction of a new landfill for remediation waste (near Sumgait city), improvement of the existing access roads and bridge and construction of a new access road. Bidding documents (and additional copies) may be purchased at the address specified below for a non-refundable fee of US$ 250, or its equivalent in manta, for each set. Interested bidders may obtain further information at the same address. Bids shall be valid for a period of 90 days after their opening and must be accompanied by security amount of US$ 60,000 or its equivalent in other freely convertible currency or in the national currency (manat), and shall be delivered to the office of the PIU on or before 1500 hours (local Baku time) on 23 September 2002. They will be opened immediately thereafter, in the presence of the bidders who wish to attend, at the same address.
