Programme (\"MEAP\") budou realizovány nákupy následujících zařízení: vodoměry,
průtokoměry, GIS a IT hard- a software, modernizace úpraven vody a rezervoárů,
modernizace rozvodů vody a kanalizace, FYR Macedonia intends to use the proceeds
of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (\"the
Bank\") for a project to construct, rehabilitate and extend water and wastewater
infrastructure operated by five Macedonian water utilities. The loan proceeds
will be on-lent to these five utilities which will implement the project with
the assistance of international implementation consultants. The project has the
following objectives: (i) to improve the quality and reliability of water
supply; (ii) to reduce public health hazards and pollution of surface water from
discharging untreated wastewater; (iii) to introduce cost recovery in the
provision of municipal services; (iv) to strengthen the financial and
operational performance of the water utilities involved; and (v) to foster
private sector involvement in contracting and construction management. The
proposed project, which has a total estimated cost of EUR 57.7 million
equivalent (excluding taxes and duties), will require the procurement of the
following goods, works and services, with tendering for these contracts expected
to begin as indicated: Supply of tools, spare parts, safety and laboratory
equipment – contracts are signed; Supply of consumer water meters – 1st quarter
2002 Supply and Installation of bulk and flow meters – 1st quarter of 2002
Supply and installation of GIS and IT hardware and software – 2nd quarter of
2002 Upgrading of water sources, treatment plants and reservoirs – 2nd quarter
of 2002 Rehabilitation of sewerage networks and water distribution networks –
3rd and 4th quarters of 2002 respectively; Implementation consultancy – contract
was signed in 3rd quarter of 2001. In addition to the above loan, financed
components the project will comprise the upgrading of related buildings (to be
financed by a grant from FYR Macedonia), as well as a spring rehabilitation
contract and the construction of four wastewater treatment plants (to be
financed by grants from bilateral donors). Contracts to be financed with the
proceeds of a loan from the Bank will be subject to the Banks Procurement
Policies and Rules and will be open to firms from any country. The proceeds of
the Banks loan will not be used for the purpose of any payment to persons or
entities, or for any import of goods, if such payment or import is prohibited by
a decision of the United Nations Security Council taken under Chapter VII of the
Charter of the United Nations or under a law of official regulation of the

FYR Macedonia intends to use the proceeds of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (\"the Bank\") for a project to construct, rehabilitate and extend water and wastewater infrastructure operated by five Macedonian water utilities. The loan proceeds will be on-lent to these five utilities which will implement the project with the assistance of international implementation consultants.
