procurement notice for this project that appeared in UN Development Business No.
527 of 31 January 2000. The Government of the Republic of Zambia, on behalf of
AHC-Mining Municipal Services Limited has received a credit from the
International Development Association (IDA) toward the cost of Mine Township
Services Project (MTSP), and it intends to apply part of the credit proceeds to
payments under the contract for the supply and delivery of water treatment
chemicals. The AHC-Mining Municipal Services Limited now invites sealed bids
from eligible bidders for the supply and delivery of water treatment chemicals:
Lot No. 1: 300 metric tons chlorine gas, industrial grade, packaged in 1,000 kg
net weight steel cylinders Lot No. 2: 850 metric tons Aluminium Sulphate,
granular, in 50 kg bags Lot No. 3: 500 metric tons Hydrated Lime, packaged in 25
kg bags Lot No. 4: 10 metric tons HTH granular chlorine in 50 kg drums The
bidder is allowed, at its option to bid for individual lots or for any
combination of lots. Further, the bidder shall quote for the entire quantities
specified in a lot. Bids for partial quantities in a lot will not be considered.
The basis for bid evaluation and contract award will be by individual lot or a
combination of lots, whichever is economically advantageous to the purchaser.
However if no bidder quotes for the entire quantity in a lot, then one or more
contracts will be awarded for partial quantities, at the option of the
purchaser. Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive
bidding (ICB) procedures as specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines:
Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, January 1995 (revised January and
August 1996, September 1997 and January 1999, March 2000 and January 2001) and
is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the
guidelines. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from
AHC-Mining Municipal Services Limited and inspect the bidding documents at the
address given below, from 0730 to 1645 hours, Monday through Friday. A complete
set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders on
the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of
a non-refundable fee of K 250,000 or US$ 65 or its equivalent in a freely
convertible currency. The method of payment will be cash, bank certified check
or direct deposit to Barclays Bank, Kaunda Square Branch, Kitwe, account No.
1899051.The document will be sent by airmail or courier for overseas delivery
and surface mail or courier for local delivery. All bids must be accompanied by
a security amount of not less than 2 per cent of the total bid price in a freely
convertible currency, and be delivered to or dropped in the locked tender box
located at the reception of the 1st floor at the address below at or before 1400
hours (local time) on 21 June 2002. They will be opened immediately thereafter,
in the presence of the bidders who choose to attend, at the same address. Late
