This invitation for bids follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in UN Development Business No. 439 of 31 May 1996. The Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA) toward the cost of the Water Supply Development and Rehabilitation Project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit to payments under the contract for the supply and installation of computers and network equipment. The Ministry of Water Resources now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the supply and installation of the following goods and services: Supply of computers and accessories Network cable and accessories supply and installation Establishing of local and Wide Area Network Supply and installation of software Network use and administration training Supply of technical reference materials Establishing Web Page Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding procedures specified in the World Banks Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, January 1995 (revised January and August 1996 and September 1997), and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the guidelines. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the bidding documents at the Ministry of Water Resources at the address below from 0900 to 1700 hours on all working days. A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee US$ 50 or equivalent in Ethiopian Birr by cashiers check. Bid documents will be dispatched by courier upon payment of an extra US$ 30. The Ministry of Water Resources will not be responsible for any cost or expenses incurred by bidders in connection with the preparation of delivery of bids. Bids must be delivered to the address below by 1200 hours on 31 July 2002. All bids must be accompanied by the bid security of not less than 2 per cent of the bid price or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency. Late bids will be rejected.
