The Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) has received a loan from International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) toward the cost of the Second Chennai Water Supply and Sanitation Project, and it intends to apply part of loan proceeds to payment under the contract for refurbishment of Kilpauk water treatment plant under contract No.CMWSSB/ICB/WSS/411/2001. CMWSSB now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for refurbishment of Kilpauk water treatment plant. Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding (ICB) procedures as specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the guidelines. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from CMWSSB and inspect the bidding documents at the address given below from 1000 to 1200 hours. A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by the interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and up on a non refundable fee of Rs 6,480 (inclusive of taxes) from 19 June to 8 August 2002. The method of payment will be in the form of demand draft or banker’s check on any scheduled bank payable at Chennai in favor of the CMWSSB or cash to be paid at the cash counter of CMWSSB. Bidding documents requested by mail will be dispatched by registered mail or speed post or courier on payment of an extra amount of Rs 500 for documents to be sent within India and Rs 3,000 for document to be sent to other countries. CMWSSB will not be held responsible any delays in transit, if any, in the delivery of documents or non-receipt of the same. A pre-bid meeting will be held on 12 July 2002 at the office of the Superintending Engineer (Contracts and Monitoring), at the address below. All bids must be accompanied by a security amount of Rs 4 million, and be delivered to the address below on or before 1500 hours on 9 August 2002. They will be opened at 1530 hours on the same day, in the presence of bidders who choose to attend, at the same address. Late bids will be rejected.
