Invitation for Tenders follows the General Procurement Notice for this Project,
which was published on the EBRDs Web site in the Procurement Opportunities
section on 1 October 2001. Miejskie Wodociagi i Kanalizacja of Bydgoszcz (known
as MWiK), hereinafter referred to as \"the Employer\", intends using part of the
proceeds of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
(the Bank) towards the cost of the laying of a water main to Fordon, in the City
of Bydgoszcz, Poland. The Employer now invites sealed tenders from contractors
for the following contract to be funded from part of the proceeds of the loan:
The contract for the Water Main to Fordon, Bydgoszcz, comprises: The laying and
testing of approximately 9,100 metres of 800mm diameter pipeline to the Fordon
District, together with all ancillary works. The laying and testing of
approximately 1,027 metres of 300mm diameter and 827 metres of 400mm diameter
water supply pipeline to Osielsko Commune and Myslecinek District with
intermediate pumping station and storage tank and ancillary works. The laying
and testing of approximately 779 metres of 800mm diameter and 2 lines of 86
metres of diameter 600 mm river crossing together with all ancillary works. All
materials are to be supplied by the Contractor. The type of contract to be let
is a \"fixed price, lump sum\" contract, based on the detailed designs and
contract drawings, which are included in the tender documents. Tendering for the
contract, which is to be financed with the proceeds of a loan from the Bank, is
open to firms from any country. The proceeds of the Banks loan will not be used
for the purpose of any payment to persons or entities, or for any import of
goods, if such payment or import is prohibited by a decision of the United
Nations Security Council taken under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United
Nations To be qualified for the award of the contract, Tenderers must be able to
show previous satisfactory experience in the construction and hand-over of
similar projects, as set out under the Qualifying Requirements in the Tender
Data. The tender documents have been prepared in hard copy but with the design
documentation in electronic form on a CD ROM, which may be obtained from the
office at the address below upon payment of a non-refundable fee of 2 500 PLN
22% VAT, or equivalent in convertible currency. Payments for the documents can
be made by bank transfer to the MWiKs Bankers at Miejskie Wodociagi i
Kanalizacja Sp. Z o.o. in Bydgoszczy; Bank PeKaO S.A. II O/Bydgoszcz account no.
11001034-907455-2101-111-0 , for which an invoice will be supplied. If
requested, the documents will be promptly dispatched by courier (delivery
payment by Order), but no liability can be accepted for loss or late delivery.
All tenders must be accompanied by a tender security of 500 000 PLN, or its
equivalent in a convertible currency. Tenders must be delivered to the office
(Secretarys office of the General Manager - room 122) at the address below at or
before 12:00 hours local time on 30 September 2002, at which time they will be
opened in the presence of those Tenderers representatives who choose to attend.
A register of potential Tenderers, who have purchased the tender documents, may
be inspected at the address below. Prospective Tenderers may obtain further
information from, and inspect and acquire the tender documents at, the following
