This request for expressions of interest follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in UN Development Business No. 582 of 16 May 2002. The Government of the State of Ceará, through the Secretariat of Water Resources (SRH), has received a loan in various currencies from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) toward the cost of the Ceará Water Resource Management and Integration Project (PROGERIRH/CE), and intends to apply part of the proceeds of the loan to payments under the contract for the design of monitoring, instrumentation and automation plans for the Castanhăo Reservoir. The services comprise: (i) water quality monitoring; (ii) water table piezometric level monitoring in middle and lower valley; (iii) limnological monitoring of dam; (iv) prevention of salinization in middle and lower Jaguaribe River; and (v) instrumentation and automation of dam monitoring, to be executed in not more than eight months after the date the respective service order is issued. SRH now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultants must provide evidence of their qualification to perform the services (catalogues, brochures, description of similar services performed, experience under similar conditions, availability of adequate staff and availability of that staff to perform the services, etc.). Consultants may associate to enhance their qualifications. A consultant will be selected in accordance with the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank’s Borrowers, January 1997 (revised September 1997 and January 1999), under Quality and Cost-Based Selection Method (QCBS).
