United Nations Interim Administration in Kosovo (UNMIK) is in receipt of a grant
from the International Development Association (IDA) in the amount of US$ 4.5
million, for support to the Pilot Water Supply Project (Gjakove-Rahovec Water
Supply Project). The Urgent Infrastructure Repairs Sub-Component is complete.
The Management Improvement Sub-Component is under implementation. A performance
based management contract with a private operator is in place for a period of 2
years, which commenced in February 2002. In addition, the following services
will be required: Design, procurement and works supervision services Supply of
equipment, installation and training for the Geographic Information System
Independent performance reviewer Dam safety appraisal Customer evaluation study
The Infrastructure Rehabilitation Sub-Component will provide investment funds to
finance works and goods for infrastructure improvements, including: Procurement
of Goods: Vehicles, maintenance tools, workshop machinery, construction
equipment, laboratory equipment and chemicals, replacement pumps and control
equipment; pipes, fittings, repair clamps and spare parts; water meters and
chlorination units; and office equipment and computers. Procurement of Works:
Repair and rehabilitation works at the dam intake structures, derivation canal
and dam structure; rehabilitation of the water treatment works, pump stations
and reservoirs; repairs to the distribution network; and rehabilitation to
buildings and warehouses. The operator of the management contract will be
responsible for directing component investment and defining the overall
investment plan. The Integrated Water Resources Management Component will
finance consultant services, training and study tours to develop a framework for
integrated water resources management for the project area, focused primarily on
the issue of allocation of water between water supply and irrigation users.
Procurement of contracts financed by the grant will be conducted through the
procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD
Loans and IDA Credits, January 1995 (revised January and August 1996, September
1997, and January 1999), and is open to all bidders from eligible source
countries as defined in the guidelines. Consulting services will be selected in
accordance with the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of
Consultants by World Bank Borrowers, January 1997 (revised September 1997 and
January 1999). Specific procurement notices for contracts to be bid under the
World Bank’s international competitive bidding (ICB) procedures and for
large-value consultants’ contracts will be announced, as they become available,
