This invitation for bids follows the general procurement notice for this
project, the last update of which appeared in UN Development Business No. 574 of
16 January 2002. The Republic of Tajikistan has received a credit from the
International Development Association (IDA) toward the cost of the Rural
Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project, and it intends to apply part of the
credit proceeds to payments under the contract for procurement of meteorology
and survey equipment, equipment for testing of water, soil and crops, laboratory
glass wares and equipment for nature protection and environment monitoring. The
Project Management Unit (PMU) Rural Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project now
invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the procurement of computers and
office equipment. The goods are to be shipped within 45 days after signing of
contract. The manufacturer of the goods offered by the bidder should have a
minimum of five years experience in manufacturing such goods. The goods are to
be delivered at the address below. The goods required have been divided into
lots with one or more items included under a lot. Bidders can bid for any or all
lots. Bid for each lot must be complete with all items and quantities. Partial
bids will be rejected. Each bid shall be accompanied by a separate bid security
for each lot. Bids will be evaluated for each lot separately and awarded to the
lowest responsive bidder. The goods required are: Lot No. 1: Meteorology and
survey equipment Lot No. 2: Equipment for testing of water, soil and crops Lot
No. 3: Equipment for laboratories for nature protection and environment
monitoring Lot No. 4: Laboratory glass wares Bidding will be conducted through
the international competitive bidding procedures specified in the World Bank’s
Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, January 1995 (revised
January and August 1996 and September 1997 and January 1999), and is open to all
bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the guidelines. Interested
eligible bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the bidding
documents at the address below from 0900 to 1600 hours, Monday through Friday. A
complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested
bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon
payment of a non-refundable fee of TR 250 or its equivalent in convertible
currency. The method of payment will be by cash or cashiers check. Payment may
also be made by direct credit to the US Dollar Account No. 20206 84000 00184
with Tajprombank, Dehlavi Street 12/3, Post Code 734025, Dushanbe, Tajikistan
through our Bank’s correspondent Bank Commerzbank AG, Frankfurt Am Main,
Germany, Swift Code COBA DE FF, Account No. 10925832. The exchange rate between
US dollars and Tajik Somonis will be advised on request. The document will be
sent by courier. Bids must be valid for a period of 90 days after bid opening
and must be delivered to the address below by 1400 hours on 16 January 2003. All
bids must be accompanied by a bid security of not less than 2 per cent of the
bidders bid price or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency. Bids
will be opened in the presence of bidders’ representatives who choose to attend
at the address below at 1400 hours on 16 January 2003. Late bids will be
