Pre-Feasibility, Feasibility and Technical Design Studies regarding the execution of hydro-agricultural development works of 1000 ha net in Kigali City marshlands.
The Government of Rwanda (GOR) is pursuing a comprehensive Poverty Reduction Program which includes implementation of various sustainable development projects. The Third Rural Sector Support Project (RSSP3) is one of the development initiatives designed under the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI) funded by the World Bank in order to tackle the issues related to food insecurity and rural communities' livelihoods income.
The project aims at revitalizing the rural economy and improving the quality of life of the rural poor through increased transfer of technical and financial resources for sustainable rural development. The emphasis of RSSP3 is on broadening and deepening the support provided to accelerate the pace of intensification and commercialization of agricultural production.
It is in this regard that the Project will invest in marshlands rehabilitation and development by constructing the irrigation infrastructures, including dams, canals and related structures on the selected sites. For this purpose, the project plans to conduct feasibility and technical design studies regarding the execution of hydro-agricultural development works of 1500 ha in Kigali City marshlands and intends to hire a consultancy firm to carry out these services.
The consulting services ("the Services") include the following key tasks:
Review previously identified potential sites, if necessary identify additional sites, and carry out reconnaissance surveys, site selection, inception reports and pre-feasibility study for all sites.
Undertake a comprehensive feasibility study including designs, cost estimates, socio-economic, financial, environmental and social analyses for the selected multiple sites.
Undertake a detailed design study for the selected feasible sites.
