specified This is an update of the general procurement notice published in UN
Development Business No. 502 of 16 January 1999. The Government of the People’s
Republic of China has received a loan from the International Bank for
Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and credit from the International
Development Association (IDA) in various currencies equivalent to US$ 102
million toward the cost of the Sichuan Urban Environment Project, and it intends
to use the loan and credit proceeds to finance eligible expenditures for goods
and works to be procured under this project. The works and goods scheduled for
procurement under the loan/credit will include the following: Construction of
water supply facilities in Luzhou, capcity 50,000 mł/day Construction of
wastewater collection, interception and treatment facilities in Chengdu, Leshan,
and Deyang, ranging from 100,000 mł/day to 300,000 mł/day capacity Construction
of transfer stations, landfill and supply of plant and equipment for solid waste
facilities in Leshan Rehabilitation and reconstruction of historic monuments in
Leshan (NCB) Procurement of contracts financed by the loan/credit will be
conducted through procedures as specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines:
Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, January 1995 (revised January and
August 1996, September 1997 and January 1999), and is open to all bidders form
eligible source countries as defined in the guidelines. Specific procurement
notices for contracts to be bid under the World Bank’s international competitive
bidding (ICB) procedures as they become available, will be advertised in UN
Development Business and national circulated local newspapers. Interested
eligible bidders who wish to be included on the mailing list to receive in
invitation to prequalify/bid under the ICB procedures, or those requiring
