Although this notice is assigned to a specific print issue, the official
publication date of this notice is considered the date that it is posted online
(see below). This request for expressions of interest follows the general
procurement notice for this project that appeared in UN Development Business No.
570 of 16 November 2001. The Government of Mozambique has received a credit from
the International Development Association (IDA), and intends to apply part of
the credit proceeds to payments under the contract for the design of GIS system
in Beira, Quelimane, Nampula and Pemba water supply systems. The services
include: Implementation of the GIS system for four Mozambique water systems in
the cities of Beira, Quelimane, Nampula and Pemba. The objectives of the
assignment are to locate the position of all water pipelines and pipeline
devices in the four cities, to fix co-ordinates for pipeline devices, to capture
the entire water network of each city in an ArcView shapefile format, to build
an ESRI shapefile and Microsoft Access database of the water network, to supply
GIS workstation and ArcView software, to build an appropriate system that will
allow for distributed data maintenance and read-only access via the Internet, to
train local personnel to use the GIS and to update the spatial database, to
formulate Terms of Reference for the procurement of equipment and software shown
in the system design and produce map books for each city for use by operation
staff. Fundo de Investimento e Patrimonio do Abastecimento de Água (FIPAG) now
invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the
services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they
are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar
assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate
skills among staff, etc.). Consultants may associate to enhance their
qualifications. A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures
set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants
by World Bank Borrowers, January 1997 (revised September 1997, January 1999 and
April 2002). Interested consultants may obtain further information at the
address below from 0800 to 1300 hours and 1400 to 1530 hours, during weekdays.
Expressions of interest must be delivered to the address below by 1500 hours on
