it is posted online (see below). The Government of the Azerbaijan Republic has
received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA) toward
the cost of the Urgent Environmental Investment Project, and intends to apply
part of the funds to cover eligible payments under the contract for mercury
remediation works. Bidding is open to all bidders from eligible source countries
as defined in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA
Credits. The Project Implementation Unit (PIU) at the Ministry of Ecology and
Natural Resources invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for mercury
remediation works on the territory of the old chlorine plant (Sumgait Surface
Active Substances Plant) and transportation of hazardous waste to landfill. More
information can be found on the PIU website. Bidding documents (and additional
copies) may be purchased at the address specified below for a non-refundable fee

November (previously set for 2 October) 2002, at which time they will be opened
in the presence of the bidders who wish to attend. Qualified domestic
contractors may be eligible to receive a margin of preference of 7˝ per cent in
