The Government of the State of Ceará has received a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) toward the cost of the Ceará Integrated Water Resource Management Project (PROGERIRH), and it intends to apply part of the loan proceeds to payments under the contract for construction of civil works and supply and assembly of related equipment for Section II of Castanhăo - Fortaleza Metropolitan Region (FMR) Basin Integration System. The Secretariat of Water Resources now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the construction of civil works, supply and assembly of hydroelectromechanical material and equipment for pipelines and siphons in Section II of Castanhăo-Fortaleza Metropolitan Region Basin Integration System, between Curral Velho Reservoir and Serra do Félix, comprising the construction of: (i) a 20 m long, 8.20 m wide concrete Water Intake in Curral Velho Reservoir, provided with two stop log floodgates 3.50 m and 3.90 m wide respectively; (ii) a pipeline constituted of five concrete-coated canal subsections 5 m wide at the bottom, 2.70 m high up the berm, and 13.10 m wide at the mouth, with slopes of 1.00(H):1.5(V), declivity of 0.15 m/km, covering a total extension of 35.1 km and total discharge (Qt) of 19 mł/sec; and (iii) four inverted siphon subsections to cross rivers and streams along the system, as defined by the start and end of canals, covering an approximate extension of 10.8 km, constituted of two steel piping with internal diameter of 2,500 mm. The construction period is 15 months. Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, January 1995 (revised January and August 1996, September 1997 and January 1999), and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the guidelines. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the bidding documents at the Secretariat of Water Resources of the State of Ceará (first address below) from 0800 to 1200 hours and 1400 to 1800 hours. A complete set of bidding documents in English (a Portuguese version of bidding documents will also to be available) may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the first address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of R$ 500 or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency. The payment shall be made at \"Banco do Estado do Ceará\" by the use of the document called \"Documento de Arrecadaçăo Estadual - DAE\", obtained in the site www.sefaz.ce.gov.br, filling the field 02 of the referred document with code 9822. The document will be sent by airmail for overseas delivery and surface mail or courier for local delivery. Bids must be delivered to the Comissăo Central de Concorręncias (second address below) by 1600 hours on 25 November 2002. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of R$ 2,200,000 or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency.
