Krátce: Uhelný důl Suvodol u Bitoly a další ložiska na území FYROM
The surface mine Suvodol is located nearby REK Bitola and as mine for exploitation of coal – lignite has primary importance for electricity generation in the Thermal Power Plants Bitola 1, 2 and 3 with installed power of 3 x 255 MW.
The thermal power plants in REK Bitola operate with theirs full capacity and contribute in the total electricity production in Republic of Macedonia with 70 – 80%.
The surface mine Suvodol is located 15 km east from Bitola and extends over 9.0 square km. The exploitation in the mine Suvodol has started in 1977 with excavation of the dirt and in the middle of the 1982 has started the excavation of the coal.
The mine Suvodol has been opened on base of the research performed in the period 1972 – 1974 and the prepared “Elaborate for mine reserves” from 1975 which has determined and confirmed the geological reserve of about 175 million tone, and with exploitation coefficient of 95% of the raw material and losses of 5%, calculated exploitation reserves are about 161 million tones, with average overburden coefficient = 1 : 3.9.
The coal seem is with average thickness of 19.8 meters and its depth is 30 – 100 meters.
