Description: The overall improvement of forest nursery productions requires innovation in processes and the application of new technologies that provide high levels of optimization and improvement of the yields of such production processes. In the area of plant production, the yields improvement is caused by the increase of germination capacity and the reduction of yore in nursery and plantation. Furthermore, in order to improve the competitiveness of these productions, is essential the reduction in labor expenditures necessary for its operations. Similarly, the use of plastic materials involves subsequent collection of the same after its use. This proposal aims to bring into the market a solution to increase nursery plant productivity through innovation in container phase (pot), as well as the application and controlled release fertilizers. The developed product, consists on a forest plant tray, made of biodegradable material, which contains the fertilizer needed for the optimal development of the seedling. This product will compete with forest plastic containers whose manufacturing cost is very low but do not have the necessary character of sustainability, they are not biodegradable and they do not allow the incorporation of fertilizer in its formulation. To support the market entry of the product, it is necessary to carry out the production of the same on an industrial scale and to develop an experiment of a current use of the same to demonstrate the economics of the system and the important environmental advantages. The environmental and economic benefits of this new product are varied: - The manufacturing material of the containers is essentially moldable cellulose from recycled cardboard. Thus, it is used a renewable raw material (cellulose) and also it comes from waste cardboard. - The use of a biodegradable material to replace the current plastic materials involves using a material more healthy and friendly Environment. It will also prevent the collection of the container after performing field planting. - To integrate fertilizer in the container increases the success rate in planting and reduces costs associated with replanting and fertilizer application in the field. - By integrating pot and plant in field planting, largely prevents post-transplant stress.

Partners sought: SMEs of cardboard or molded pulp production sector are desired, having the ability to develop new cardboard products. The requested partner sought must show interest in innovation and new product development based on moldable cellulose for forest production.
