The Government of the Republic of Zambia, on behalf of AHC-Mining Municipal Services Limited has received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA) toward the cost of the Mine Township Services Project (MTSP), and it intends to apply part of the funds to cover eligible payments under the contract for rehabilitation of water reservoirs, IFB No. 0016/2002.
The AHC-Mining Municipal Services Limited, as an Executing Agent for the borrower, invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the rehabilitation of water reservoirs at various sites in the towns of Mufulira, Chingola, Chililabombwe, Kitwe and Luanshya on the Copperbelt Province of Zambia as follows:
Lot No. 1: Repair and refurbishment of Mufulira, Chingola, and Chililabombwe reservoirs
Lot No. 2: Repair and refurbishment of Kitwe and Luanshya reservoirs
Lot No. 3: Supply and installation of reservoir monitoring and telemetry system
The bidder is allowed, at its option, to bid for individual lots or more than one lot. The basis for bid evaluation and contract award will be by individual lot, and the employer reserves the right to award the contract(s) to the most economical combination of lots.
Bidding documents (and additional copies) in English may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address given below for a non-refundable fee of K 250,000 or US$ 65 or its equivalent in a freely convertible currency, for each set. The method of payment will be cash, bank certified check or direct deposit to Barclays Bank, Kaunda Square Branch, Kitwe, account No. 1899051.The document will be sent by airmail or courier for overseas delivery and surface mail or courier for local delivery. Interested bidders may obtain further information at the same address.
Bids shall be valid for a period of 90 days after their opening and must be accompanied by a bid security amount of at least 2 per cent of the total bid price, and be delivered and dropped in the locked tender box located at the reception of the 1st floor at the address below at or before 1400 hours (local time) on 15 November 2002, at which time they will be opened in the presence of the bidders who wish to attend.
Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding (ICB) procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, January 1995 (revised January and August 1996, September 1997 and January 1999).
Information including names of potential bidders and contact persons’ telephone and facsimile numbers, e-mail and physical mailing address should be provided in the application letter to facilitate communication during the bidding process.
There will be an official site visit for all bidders on Monday, 30 September 2002 at 1000 hours (local time). All prospective bidders are advised to attend. The assembly point shall be at the AHC-MMS Head Office, Investments Holdings, at the address below.
