Vella briefed members on the preparations in view of the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 15) to the Convention on Biological Diversity set to take place in Kunming in the final quarter of 2020. Crucially the COP 15 will aim to adopt the post-2020 global biodiversity framework. The exchange was also inter alia an opportunity for the Commissioner to brief members on the outcome of the 18th Conference of Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
