Eco Architecture: Greening Germany with a sustainable Eco City
Eco Factor: World class Eco City to be powered by renewable sources of energy.
Germany´s Hamburg-Hamburg Harbor has announced the development of a world class Eco City development, which will be designed by Tec Architecture and the global engineering group ARUP. The sustainable development will be home to industry and entrainment facilities.
The development will use the latest advancements in green design and will be seeking to achieve the highest level of environmental certification from LEED, BREEAM and DGNB. Comprising 10 ecofriendly buildings, the complex will integrate green materials and passive design techniques to lower the energy consumption by as much as 30%.
The Eco City will use wind turbines to generate about 10% of the complex´s energy demands and use solar energy for hot water and lights. The roofs of the buildings will be covered in greenery to capture water runoff and cool the interiors.
