Some are far enough from Mandagery creek that they seemed flood-proof, until the day they weren't. Pod homes - the temporary housing solution offered by the NSW government - sit on stilts alongside caravans for people whose houses remain uninhabitable. The streetscape is a mix of these temporary solutions, mud-stained houses, and a sprinkling of shiny, refurbished buildings belonging to the fortunate few who had adequate insurance.
