he Heart Behind the Movement: Why World Cleanup Day Needs Your Support
When you see millions of people across 211 countries united on 20 September, cleaning up our planet together, you're witnessing something that began with a simple question: what if we could get everyone to act on the same day?
Ten years ago, we created a global network of countries. A few years later, we established Let's Do It World as an NGO with a General Assembly to govern this growing movement, and since then have led World Cleanup Day seven times.
For seven consecutive years, we've turned this day from a bold idea into a global reality. We've watched it grow from an ambitious dream into a movement that mobilises over 114 million people. Thanks to persistence and the strength of our network, World Cleanup Day earned its place on the UN Calendar of International Days?as well as several global awards.
Being on the UN calendar means the world officially recognises what we've built as essential. It validates our vision?but it doesn't fund our work.
Every World Cleanup Day you've seen has been powered mostly by volunteers who dug into their own pockets, gave up personal time, and invested their own resources?because they believed our planet couldn't wait.
The true cost of global change
When you coordinate cleanup efforts across 211 countries, support millions of volunteers, and maintain a network that spans continents?that takes real resources. It is a full-time commitment.
Our team members have missed family dinners to answer calls from organisers in different time zones. They've used personal savings to keep servers running when donation funds ran low. They've worked nights and weekends not because they had to, but because millions of people were counting on them.
This isn't sustainable without your help.

Impact far beyond a single day
Behind each powerful September moment is a year-round network creating lasting environmental change. We're connecting communities, sharing solutions, and building the infrastructure for sustained action. World Cleanup Day is the catalyst?the moment that shows the world what's possible when we act together. But catalysts need fuel, and movements need momentum.
"Strive for Five"
Research shows that a 5% threshold creates irreversible tipping points for societal change. We're not just cleaning up?we're sparking the transformation our planet needs. That is our strategy: to engage 5% of the global population in coordinated environmental action on a single day.
But we're $42,000 short of what we need to make this ambitious goal possible.
We've already proven that extraordinary things happen when passionate people unite for our planet. More than 114 million people have answered this call.
Your donation?$10, $50, $250, or whatever you can contribute?directly powers this movement.
We're in this together
What began as an ambitious idea is now proof that global change is possible. Every cleanup organised, every tonne of waste removed, every community inspired?it happened because people like you believed in what we're building.
But we can't do it alone.
Let's do it?together!
